A reference in the Epstein files has drawn renewed attention, as filmmaker Mira Nair, mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, was mentioned in the documents. The files claimed she attended an afterparty at the home of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.

The email dated on October 21, 2009, was an exchange between publicist Peggy Siegal to Jeffrey Epstein, right after Siegal left the afterparty of Mira Nair's 2009 film Amelia held at Ghislaine Maxwell's town house.

"Just left Ghislaine's townhouse...after party for film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there...Jean Pigoni, director Mira Nair....etc," the email read.

Former US President Bill Clinton and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos were included in a broader list of guests.

The email recounts the reaction of guests to Nair's film as "tepid".

"Film received tepid reaction although women like it much more...Hillary Swank and Gen: at stupid party in Bloomingdales cheap sportwear department....very weird. Studio went for free party from store and windows for a month....Going to be in Wall Street 2 tomorrow ....more to come. xoxo Peg," the email read.

The US Justice Department on Friday released over three million pages of documents, including 2,000 videos and 1,80,000 images, on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
