Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42: Everything you need to know about 'Kaanta Laga' girl

Born on December 15, 1982, Shefali Jariwala was born to a middle-class family in Ahmedabad. After completing her schooling, Shefali Jariwala pursued higher education and earned her engineering degree in Information Technology from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, located in Anand, Gujarat.

While studying engineering at the college, filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru spotted her outside the campus and offered her the music video. In the music video, Zariwala impressed everyone with her appealing dance moves that became the defining visual of the remix era in 2000s.

Shefali became an overnight sensation with Kaanta Laga, a remix of the classic Lata Mangeshkar track from the 1972 film Samadhi. Her appearance in the song earned her the nickname "Kaanta Laga Girl".

Following the breakout success, Shefali received numerous music video offers. She then expanded her horizons from music videos to explore opportunities in acting. Shefali then started appearing in Bollywood movies.

One of her notable performances was in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), where she played a supporting role. Beyond Bollywood, Shefali Jariwala expanded her acting career with roles in the South Indian film industry.

After exploring acting, Shefali Jariwala turned her focus to reality television. She appeared in several popular shows, including Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye 7, both with her husband Parag Tyagi.

Shefali married Harmeet Singh, one half of the musical duo Meet Brothers in 2004. Their marriage ended in 2009 after she allegedly accused him of domestic abuse.
