Face To Face (1977)
Shakti, an iconic Indo-fusion group from the 1970s, released exceptional albums and included guitarist John McLaughlin, violinist L Shankar, and ghatam legend Vikku Vinayakram in its lineup. This track from the 1977 album ‘Natural Elements’ has remained a favourite for many Shakti fans.

Nomads (1993)
In the early 1990s, Zakir Hussain created the album Soundscapes: Music Of The Deserts, drawing inspiration from natural landscapes. The tracks blended light classical music, Rajasthani folk, and Middle Eastern influences. In addition to various percussion instruments, he incorporated the rabab, sarangi, and sarinda.

Kya Tumne Hai Keh Diya – from Saaz (1997)
Zakir Hussain may not have composed many film songs, but he participated in a few remarkable projects. One such piece from Sai Paranjpye’s Saaz featured his tabla performance alongside Kavita Krishnamurthy’s singing, representing Shabana Azmi.

The Tree of Rhythm (2002)
This composition showcased Ustad Allarakha alongside his three sons, starting with the senior maestro chanting intricate 'bols'. Zakir appeared on this standout track from the album, ‘1/2 to 16', which included Taufiq on percussion, L Shankar on violin, and vocals by Geetika Varde.

The World of Rhythm (2021)
Ever since the Planet Drum album debuted in 1991, Zakir Hussain has collaborated with Mickey Hart on several international projects. In 2021, they released a video advocating against racism, featuring Giovanni Hidalgo on the conga drum, Sikiru Adepoju on the talking drum, Fazal Qureshi on tabla, and Taufiq Qureshi on percussion alongside Hart and Zakir.
