Jammu & Kashmir tourist parks reopen after Pahalgam attack

Multiple parks in Jammu and Kashmir's tourist destinations, including a few in Pahalgam, reopened today after being closed following the April 22 terror attack.

Tourists and local visitors alike welcomed the reopening of the parks, flocking to them in large numbers across various locations.

To secure the surroundings and boost public confidence, security personnel were deployed in large numbers around the parks.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the phased reopening of 16 parks in Jammu and Kashmir, equally divided between the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley. As part of the initial phase, eight parks in the Kashmir Valley have been reopened.

Betaab Valley in Pahalgam and the parks near Pahalgam market, Verinag, Kokernag and Achabal gardens in Anantnag district, Badamwari Park, Duck Park near Nigeen, and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal in Srinagar were reopened on Tuesday.

Similarly, eight tourist destinations in the Jammu region were reopened, including Sarthal and Dhaggar in Kathua, Devipindi, Siyad Baba, and Sula Park in Reasi, Guldanda and Jai Valley in Doda, and Pancheri in Udhampur.

Verinag, a popular park in Anantnag, south Kashmir, saw a cheerful reception as many schoolchildren turned out to welcome tourists.
