Amid rising tension between Israel and Iran, India launched Operation Sindhu to rescue Indians staying in the two war-torn countries.

In the first phase, India successfully carried out the rescue ops and evacuated 160 Indian nationals. So far, eight batches of Indian nationals have been evacuated under the ongoing operation, bringing the total number of returnees to 1,713.

Operation Sindhu joins the ranks of previous high-profile evacuation missions such as Operation Ganga, Operation Devi Shakti, Operation Kaveri, and Operation Ajay, which successfully brought home Indians from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Israel, respectively.
