A stampede broke out at the Sangam ahead of the second 'Amrit Snan' on Muni Amavasya.

Several are feared dead or missing after a huge number of devotees rushed to take 'Amrit Snan' on Mauni Amavasya, one of the most auspicious dates in the Hindu calendar.

According to government officials, pilgrims hurried to the Sangam, leading to some who were sleeping on the ground being trampled as a barrier collapsed.
