Virat Kohli retires from Test: 5 unforgettable moments from the 'King'

Firsts hold a special place, and Virat Kohli's maiden Test century was no exception. He scored 116 off 213 deliveries against Australia in 2012 and was the only Indian batsman to score a hundred in a series dominated by cricketing greats. 

Following a disappointing 2014 tour, Virat Kohli came back with a point to prove. He scored a crucial 149 on a seaming pitch against England in 2018 and set the tone for the rest of the series.

On his captaincy debut, Kohli scored twin centuries (115, 141) against Australia in 2014, breaking multiple records. Although India lost the match, those two innings remain etched in every cricket fan’s memory.

On a turning track, Kohli scored a brilliant 235, rescuing India from a poor start and guiding them to a massive total and a 231-run first-innings lead against England in 2016. His knock was crucial as it helped in India’s innings and 36-run win.

Virat Kohli’s highest Test score came in Pune in 2019, where he smashed 254* against South Africa. Opting to declare at 601/5, Team India's run-machine missed a potential triple century but led India to a commanding win by an innings and 137 runs.
