At least 15 people lost their lives, and dozens were injured early on New Year’s Day when a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd in New Orleans' French Quarter.

The man who drove the truck into Bourbon Street was identified by the FBI as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, a U.S. citizen.

The attack was intentional officials said. They also reported that the 42-year-old Texas-based US Army veteran had an Islamic State flag inside his truck.

President Joe Biden said he had been told by the FBI that the driver had posted videos on social media only hours before the attack, “indicating that he was inspired by ISIS.”
