Anniversary of Our Lady of Rosary on October 4

The Anniversary of Our Lady of Rosary will be held at Valencia Church on October 4, to mark the completion of 450 years of Rosario Church.

St Antony’s Charitable Institutions Director Fr Onil D’Souza told reporters on Monday that 2017-2018 had been declared as the year of Our Lady of Rosary for Mangaluru Diocese.

On the occasion, St Antony Ashram, Jeppu; St Vincent Ferrar Church, Valencia; St Yosuf Church, Jeppu and St Reeta Church, Cassia will jointly observe the feast of Our Lady of Rosary.

Former Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will be the main celebrant of the mass to be held at Valencia Church at 5 pm on October 4.

Later, Mangaluru Mayor Bhaskar K will inaugurate the procession at the church premises. The procession will move to St Antony’s Ashram in Jeppu. Tableaux on the miracles of Mother Mary will be part of the procession. The devotees will carry the holy rosary throughout the procession. Thousands of people from Prashanth Nivas, Jeppu; Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu; Jerosa Convent, Jeppu; Roshani Nilaya, Valencia and Cheshire Home, Kankanadi will take part.

Discourse on the importance of prayer will be held at the Ashram, followed by devotional songs on Mother Mary, Fr Onil said. Valencia Church priest Fr James D’Souza and media coordinator Stanley D’Cunha were present in the press meet.
