<p>People living in the vicinity of Loni and Sarai Kale Khan regional transport offices are being forced to travel a longer distance to get the mandatory high-security registration plates, as the HSRP centres at the two RTOs have not become functional till date.</p>.<p><br />The transport department had decided to provide the facility of installation of HSRPs at all the 13 regional transport offices and the Burari Transport Authority office in May this year. <br />However, the facility is still to come up at Loni and Sarai Kale Khan offices, causing inconvenience to car owners. </p>.<p><br />While those living in the vicinity of Loni RTO are being forced to visit the Tiamrpur office, those under the ambit of Sarai Kale Khan RTO have been advised to visit the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 office. </p>.<p><br />“I had to unnecessarily drive to Timarpur office. It’s quite a distance from my house in Yamuna Vihar. It is also not a one-time affair. Any vehicle owner will have to invest almost a whole working day to get things done,” said Sivesh Singh, a resident of Yamuna Vihar in east Delhi. </p>.<p><br />The Loni transport office serves Seelampur, Gamri, Nand Nagari, Gokalpuri, Shahdara, Ashok Nagar, Khazuri Khas, Welcome Colony, Sunder Nagr, Karawal Nagar, Mansarover Park, Harsh Vihar, Bhajanpura, Seemapuri, Yamuna Vihar and GTB Nagar. </p>.<p><br />The Sarai Kale Khan transport office cover Daryaganj, Lalkuan, Prasha Nagar, Chandni Mahal, IP Estate, Rajender Nagar, Turkmangate, LNJP Hospital, Pusa Road, Jama Masjid, Pahar Ganj, Sita Ram Bazar, Kamla Market, DBG Road, Sangtrashan, Shahganj, Shidipura, Nabi Karim, Hauz Qazi, government quarter Devnagar, Ballimaran and Karol Bagh. </p>.<p><br />However, officials of Rosmerta Technologies — the company installing HSRPs in the Capital — said they have not been able to open the centres due to lack of space at the offices concerned.</p>.<p><br />“Space is a big constraint at the two offices. At all the other RTOs we have hired space for the centres. But at Lono and Kale Khan we have not been able to identify adequate space. But we are hopeful of starting the facilities soon,” said U R Kapoor, managing director of Rosmerta Technologies. <br /><br />Kapoor said they have increased manpower at both Timarpur and Mayur Vihar Phase-1 centres to cater to the increased number of applicants efficiently. <br /></p>
