The national per capita income is Rs 87,748, it said.<br /><br />The capital has a good tertiary sector, and the per capita income is more than double the national average, the survey said. At current prices, per capital income in the city has grown by 13.49 per cent in 2014-15. The service sector contributed 87.48 per cent to the city’s income. However, food items were the most hit by price rise, the survey said.<br /><br />On the environment front, forest cover has been falling from 2011 to 2013. New Delhi area remains the greenest zone, while north-west Delhi is the most barren. The total tree cover in Delhi in 2011 was 120 sqkm, which declined to 118 sqkm in 2013, the survey said.<br /><br />As far as noise pollution goes, the chief reason is presence of non-CNG vehicles from neighbouring states. “Delhi saw excessive noise on account of large number of vehicles of all sorts including those from other areas where CNG is not the fuel,” the survey said.<br /><br />The Yamuna also suffered heavily from pollution. The 48-km strectch of the Yamuna in Delhi is highly polluted due to flow of untreated sewage.<br /><br />In matters of migrant movement, the survery said Uttar Pradesh continues to be the biggest contributor to migration into Delhi, followed by Bihar and Haryana. <br /><br />In 2013, the natural increase in population was 2.73 lakh, while migration has been estimated at 0.62 lakh, the survey said. A total of 27.19 per cent of the population in 2011 was aged between zero and 14 years.<br /><br />Hindi is the language preferred by over 80 per cent of Delhiites and Punjabi speakers form over 7 per cent of the population, closely followed by Urdu speakers who are over 6 per cent.<br /><br />In the education front, enrolment of Scheduled Castes students at primary and upper primary level in the city is low compared to others and need specifically targeted intervention, the survey said.</p>
