AAP, expelled member trade charges

Last Updated 12 April 2014, 19:35 IST

Charges and counter-charges have been flying fast and furious among expelled Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members and the party leadership ever since dissensions have come to dog the new party lately.

While expelled national executive committee member Ashwini Upadhyay charged Arvind Kejriwal with malfeasance giving tickets to the corrupt and criminals, the State party leadership, however, dismissed him as a disgruntled person indulging in spreading canards against senior party functionaries.

Claiming that he was shunted out of the party for posing pointed questions to former Delhi chief minister Kejriwal on his ambivalence on the Jan Lokpal Bill and not instituting a CBI probe against those who received funds from Ford Foundation and other foreign donors, the party leadership, however, claimed Upadhyay was still misusing his former association with the party, stating he was legal cell convenor as also party’s national council member.

Golden chance

Charging Kejriwal with forfeiting the golden chance of taking the party’s fight for Jan Lok Pal Bill to its natural fruition by unilaterally resigning for personal political gain, Upadhyay questioned the party giving tickets to Yuddhbir Singh, Yogesh Dahia, Sabir Rahi, Narendra Mohanty and alleged pro-Naxal Soni Sori.

Terming Upadhyay’s continued misuse of his former position in the party as an offensive act of fraudulent misrepresentation, the party leadership warned of legal action against him under civil and criminal laws.
