Last Updated 24 March 2014, 19:58 IST

Former chairperson of the Karnataka Child Rights Commission and Aam Aadmi Party candidate for Bangalore South constituency Neena P Nayak on Monday filed her nomination papers.

Nayak has been fielded against the BJP’s sitting MP Ananth Kumar and Congress party’s Nandan Nilekani, the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Infosys.

In her nomination papers, Nayak has declared her total assets at Rs 3.51 crore including immovable property worth Rs 1.85 crore. She has taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh for her son’s education.

A road show comprising about 200 volunteers was taken out from Jayanagar Central Mall to the Jayanagar Assistant Revenue Office where she filed her nomination papers.

After filing the papers, she told reporters about her campaign and the response she was getting from her electorate.

Exuding confidence about her victory, Neena said, “We have been working with various groups for more than a decade on child rights and various other issues. People know me well. We are getting tremendous response.”

The child rights activist said there is a wave against corruption as people want clean government and this would work in her favour.

She said she does not have money or muscle power to contest election, but the work done by her over a period of time will ensure her victory. “We have 20 more days, which is enough to turn the wind in our favour,” said Neena.
