BSY urges Rajnath to re-induct KJP leaders into BJP

Last Updated 10 March 2014, 21:02 IST

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa wants BJP’s national president Rajnath Singh to direct the party’s Karnataka unit to re-induct “important” office-bearers of the erstwhile KJP into it.

In a letter on Monday, Yeddyurappa said that following the KJP’s merger with the BJP, leaders of the erstwhile party had hoped they would be accommodated in the organisational set-up of the latter. “But they are disappointed and feel neglected. As the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections has been announced, it is very important to use their (KJP leaders’) services to ensure victory for the BJP,” the letter states. Yeddyurappa had founded the KJP from the breakaway group of the BJP.  He marked a copy of the letter to the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Yeddyurappa’s move comes after some leaders of the KJP, including former Union minister V Dhananjay Kumar and MLC, M D Lakshminarayana, hinted at rebellion, saying the BJP was ignoring them. When contacted, Lakshminarayana said they would wait for the BJP’s response until Wednesday.
