Hoskote clocks highest polling, Raichur lowest in State

The Assembly segment-wise compilation of voters’ turnout in the Lok Sabha polls in the State has revealed that Hoskote in Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency has clocked the highest polling percentage at 85.9 per cent.  

Hoskote is the home turf of former minister B N Bachegowda of the BJP who was pitted in a keen contest against two former chief ministers M Veerappa Moily (Cong) and H D Kumaraswamy (JD-S) in the Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency. 

Hoskote is hyperactive when it comes elections. It is just 26 kms away from Bangalore City.  At the other end of the spectrum, Raichur Assembly segment in Raichur Lok Sabha constituency has recorded the lowest voting percentage of 51.44.

Raichur is one of the backward districts of the State. In all, as many as seven Assembly segments have crossed the 80 per cent mark and 13 constituencies have clocked voting percentage between 50 and 55 per cent. As many as nine Assembly constituencies in this category fall under Bangalore.
