Well, there are a few places, like Peter’s library for example, where bookworms don’t just refer to people who like to read a lot, but real worms and worms with special wormy personalities!

Here’s a story of Historius – the bookworm who longed for the past and Romanticus – the heart-shaped bookworm, who read only love stories.

Historius and Romanticus fall in love

The moonbeams streamed in through the open window. Romanticus, the heart-shaped worm couldn’t resist such a lovely night. He was sitting on the windowsill and strumming romantic songs on his guitar.

Historius, the history bookworm, had his mind always in the past, wandering amongst the ruins of, you guessed it, History!

Today, however, he too was entranced by the moonlight and had come out to feel the magic of the night. History books rarely mentioned moonlit nights, they focused on names and dates only! “After all, important battles and brave forays must have occurred on moonlit nights,” Historius justified his excursion out of his history book.

He spotted Romanticus and sat down beside him, “I think I know who wrote that song. It is…er…..” hesitated Historius, scratching his ancient head.

“Don’t trouble yourself! No historical character of yours wrote this song. I wrote it myself,” said Romanticus proudly.

“Wow!” thought Historicus to himself, “If Romanticus can write love songs, then maybe he can help me!”

Historius was secretly in love with the legendary Cleopatra.

Yes, Cleopatra herself-- queen of Egypt. Cleopatra’s beauty had charmed Julius Caesar and had ensnared Mark Antony, besides so many others not mentioned in history books. Now Historius too had fallen victim to her charms.

“Will you write a song for my beloved Cleopatra?” asked Historius. Romanticus was actually very kind to all lovers and agreed to do it. “But I need to see a picture to get inspiration.” He said.

“Certainly,” said Historius. He would do anything for his ladylove. And secretly, he was always dying to show off his ladylove too.

So, the two of them trooped down to his history book, and Historius showed him a rare picture of Cleopatra.

Romanticus was speechless for a moment. And then fell hopelessly and deeply in love with Cleopatra!

Being a romantic bookworm, he had certainly heard of love at first sight, but this was the first time he experienced it.

He had also read many stories of love triangles, and now he was part of one.
What would he do? Would he follow his heart or help his friend?

It was a very tough choice for Romanticus. But then he realized that above all he was a good friend, one you could really rely on. So he decided to make the sacrifice and wrote a love song that came straight from his heart.

It was so beautiful that Historicus had tears in his eyes and spontaneously planted a big kiss which made Romanticus turn red, of course.

So Historicus now began to sit on the windowsill singing these songs, hoping that Cleopatra (now dead and gone!) would one day reciprocate his love! He was certain she would. For after all, who could resist this beautiful love song? But he had no clue about what actually was going to happen to him!

One night as he sat singing, two people approached him, all armored. My god! They were none other than Mark Anthony and Julius Caesar!

Historicus obviously doesn’t remember what really happened to him that night, only when he awoke, he found himself all bandaged up!! Romanticus was secretly happy that it was not him strumming those love songs at the window sill!
