15 new candidates to face litmus test in Mysuru district

This Assembly elections, three major political parties — the BJP, the Congress and the JD(S) — have fielded 15 new candidates, including a woman, from 11 segments in the district.

While the BJP has fielded the highest of seven new candidates, the Congress and the JD(S) have fielded three and five candidates, respectively. Out of them, five candidates have the experience of contesting elections and have been elected as representatives to local bodies.

M Ashwin Kumar and H S Dayanandamurthy of the JD(S), Anil Chikkamadu and D Ravishankar of the Congress are Zilla Panchayat members, K V Mallesh of JD(S) is a corporator. Ashwin Kumar and Anil Chikkamadu were elected as ZP members from the JD(S) while Dayanandamurthy was elected as an Independent and Ravishankar on a Congress ticket. But Anil Chikkamadu joined the Congress as the JD(S) denied him a ticket, following the death of his father MLA Chikkamadu. Dayanandamurthy joined the JD(S) from the BJP, recently.

3 new faces in Varuna

All the three major parties have fielded fresh faces in Varuna Assembly segment. Similarly, T Narasipur Assembly segment has two new faces. While the BJP has fielded T Basavaraju from Varuna, Congress has fielded Dr Yathindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Abhishek is the JD(S) candidate. Similarly, S Shankar is the BJP candidate in T Narasipur (SC Reserve) constituency, while the JD(S) has fielded M Ashwin Kumar.

In Krishnaraja Nagar, the BJP has fielded H G Shwetha and the JD(S) candidate is K V Mallesh in Krishnaraja constituency.
