A virtual campaign called ‘Tech Delhi’ has been launched by the Aam Aadmi Party on the social media seeking public response on the e-governance programme that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is planning to launch shortly.

A video of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also been uploaded on YouTube in which he is seen explaining the tech-in-governance programme of the Delhi government that aims to make hassle-free the issuing certificates and other public dealing in offices.

Chief Minister Arvind Corruption also tweeted recently on the importance of e-governance and reduction in documentation in government offices and said: “All certificates (like birth, death, income, caste etc) wud be available online. No need to go to govt offices.”
“This step wud practically end corruption n long queues at SDM offices for all kinds of certificates,” he tweeted.

On Twitter there were many posts showing a slogan attached to the visual of a smart phone with ‘Tech Delhi’ on its screen said: “Delhi Government is dedicated to delivering hassle-free, transparent services. AAP believes that your feedback is our best guide.”
The message was retweeted by Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba.

Sources said the IT cell of the AAP is involved in the ‘Tech Delhi’ campaign to invite public responses and to educate them about the e-governance initiative that would remove the need for people to visit offices for documents.

The documents, requested for in the online system, will be delivered at home for a nominal charge.

As a complementary move for improving e-governance, the Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday decided to abolish 200 categories of affidavits which are currently sought by various departments, local bodies and other organisations.

The cabinet also decided that attestation of only those documents would be retained from December 1 which the ministers approve in each department.

Separate proposal

Kejriwal also directed the department of administrative reforms to bring a separate proposal before the cabinet to make a provision for stringent punishment for those giving wrong self declarations.

Only those affidavits which are mandatory according to laws passed by Parliament or Delhi Assembly have been retained.
