AAP creating row for publicity: BJP

The BJP on Thursday slammed the AAP government in Delhi for creating controversies only to remain in the news.

A team of BJP’s three legislators met President Pranab Mukherjee to seek an early end to the flare-up over the posting of senior bureaucrats.

Addressing workers during a media workshop at the Delhi BJP unit office here, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “Controversy and Kejriwal are made for each other.”

Referring to the ongoing row triggered by the appointment of a top bureaucrat in Delhi, Naqvi said a deliberate attempt is being made to create a “constitutional crisis”.

“There is an intention behind the constitutional crisis that the AAP is creating. Hence, we will have to be alert towards it for the sake of the people,” he told BJP leaders.

Shakuntala Gamlin was appointment last week as the acting Chief Secretary, triggering a bitter war between the ruling AAP and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

Kejriwal alleged the Lieutenant Governor was trying to take over the administration and accused the BJP-led central government of attempting a coup through the Raj Niwas.

Some other bureaucrats were also transferred by Delhi government but these were later struck down by the LG.

Earlier, leader of BJP in Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, along with the party’s two other legislators, met President Pranab Mukherjee and underlined the need for an early end to the deadlock in the functioning of the Delhi government as a consequence of the AAP regime’s lack of proper understanding of constitutional provisions.

“The people are suffering due to the Kejriwal government’s controversies,” said Gupta.

Gupta referred to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s recent remark that transfer-posting was a big industry in the previous government and sought a thorough probe.

He said the office of the Lokayukta has been lying vacant since November 2013, when the then incumbent completed his five-year term, but the Kejriwal government is showing no urgency in filling up the constitutional post.

The Leader of Opposition charged that the Delhi government is shielding ministers and MLAs who have committed gross misconduct notwithstanding the fact that Kejriwal has always taken the high moral ground and championed transparency.
