The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday declared nomination of the former ministers Somnath Bharti and Girish Soni while claiming that he is innocent.

Asked why party decided to field Bharti, who is facing serious charges in Malviya Nagar midnight raid, party leader Sanjay Singh said that he had gone there on request of local people.

He added that the former law minister had helped in busting a “prostitution and drug racket” in the area.

The Delhi BJP cornered AAP for renominating Bharti.
“By nominating Bharti, the AAP has agains shown its dual standards,” Delhi BJP Media Incharge, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, said.

“A Delhi court has already chargesheeted Bharti in the matter of harassment and hurting the modesty of African women. The matter has internationally tarnished the image of Indian politicians.”

Soni gets renomination
Another former minister Girish Soni who had courted controversy for allegedly ‘over-staying’ in a rented office space secured renomination.

Making a gate crash at a party press conference last week, a resident of Inderpuri, Tarun Yadav had alleged that Soni did not vacate the flat rented out to him despite repeated reminders.

Yadav said he had brought the issue to the party’s notice as well.
“The matter is in court. So it is not for me to comment,” party’s state unit convenor, Ashutosh, said, while claiming that the matter is subjudice.

Meanwhile, AAP has formed a probe committee led by party’s senior leader Anand Kumar.
The party claimed that they will look into the case if allegation emerge against any candidates during elections.

“If allegation is proved, party can even cancel their ticket in the last moment," Singh said.
