AAP wants arrest of NDMC vice-chairman

Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday demanded “immediate arrest” and sacking of BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar from the post of NDMC vice-chairman following allegations of manhandling against him.

“Tanwar is a serial offender, and Delhi Police and Union Ministry of Home Affairs should not shield such an individual against a whom number of serious complaints are already pending,” the AAP said.

The allegations came after a senior civic official complaint against Tanwar.
AAP said another complaint against Tanwar was sent to the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and the MHA last year after a woman chief medical officer with the NDMC alleged that he “misbehaved” with her.

“It is shocking that complaints of such serious nature were ignored by the MHA while appointing him as NDMC vice-chairman again in July this year,” the party in a statement said.

AAP’s Delhi convenor Dilip Pandey said, “NDMC’s Enforcement Director Neeraj Bhart was threated by Tanwar when the former refused to stop an eviction drive. The BJP leader asked the official to call of the enforcement inspectors, who were cracking down on encroachment.”

The party said these amount to “interfere” in the functioning of the Delhi administration. Pandey also alleged police of “biasness”. “You act against AAP MLAs pro-actively but when it comes to BJP leaders, your inaction exposes your prejudice,” he said.

“Delhi Police goes out of its way to frame AAP volunteers and MLAs by imposing the strictest possible sections against them. What is preventing Delhi police from acting against Tanwar and Udit Raj?” Pandey said on Twitter.
