AAP's first Mohalla Sabha held

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held its first Mohalla Sabha in Kichripiur area of East Delhi where the local municipal councillor, in consent with the local residents, decided the manner in which the councillor development fund could be utlised.

Councillor Vinod Kumar Binny, who won as an independent and joined AAP this year, said he would spend the councillor fund in projects that are decided by the local residents in the Mohalla Sabha.

“Two days back the east corporation has released Rs 50 lakh as the first installment of councillor fund. The money would be used as the people in the area decide. Moreover, the bills of the contractor would be cleared only after the people of the area give their consent in the Mohalla Sabha,” said Binny, the only elected representative of the party.

He added that he would give old age pension to people whose names would be decided by the residents in the Mohalla Sabha. AAP has decided to hold such meetings in order to promote maximum participation of citizens in the decision making process.
The councillor has decided to hold such meetings of residents every month. AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisoda also attended the first Mohalla Sabha in Kichripur on sunday.
