Delhi Metro has started training 30 recruits for Rapid Metro Rail in Gurgaon as operations are likely to start by April 2013.

Training will be imparted at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s training institute at Shastri Park starting Monday, and will last 17 weeks.

During the course of their training, candidates will be given exposure to latest technology such as Siemens signalling system, emergency systems, rolling stock, station operations and management, among others.

The recruits will also undergo a simulator training through which they will learn how to drive trains in modes like ‘automatic train protection’.

They will learn how to start the train, pick up acceleration, apply brakes and open and close doors. They will also learn to handle emergency situations.

The institute has trained nearly 300 staff and executives of the Metro Corporations of Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai and Jaipur.

The rapid Metro is a 6.1-km-long metrorail system that connects Sikandarpur Metro station of DMRC with Cyber City and National Highway-8 in Gurgaon.
