“The lounge would be wi-fi enabled and it would have facilities like a business centre with phone and fax facilities. Apart from food, beverages and luggage handling facilties, it would also have a television that would display infromation about the departure and arrival of trains,” said Pradip Kundu, Joint General Manager (PR), IRCTC.

The lounge which is expected to be ready by March 2012, will include a wash and change facility (separate for ladies and gents). It will also have high quality toilets, lockers, luggage racks and wheel chairs for senior citizens and handicapped people.

“The lounge would have retail outlets selling books, magazines, gifts and other accompaniments for a railway journey, while newpapers and magazines would also be displayed in the lounge for the use of customers,” said Kundu.

Passengers using the lounge would be able to avail the facility of a travel desk for ticket, hotel, cab booking and foreign exchange, added Kundu.

A pick-up and drop facility for tourists will also be available. The IRCTC intends to setup an executive lounge at 50 major railway stations across the Indian Railways.
