JOIN US While expressing grief over the tragedy caused in Uttarakhand due to flash floods, Delhi Cabinet on Monday suggested each MLA to contribute Rs 10 lakh from the MLA LAD (local area development) fund in addition to one month’s salary to the CM’s Relief Fund to support rescue and resettlement operation in the hilly state.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit said the cabinet has also urged the city government employees to contribute their one day’s salary to the relief fund.
Helpline number
The government also decided to start a 24x7 helpline number 1077 with immediate effect to offer help to displaced families.
Besides, the cabinet has also taken decision to expand the ambit of Jeevan — a citizen service centre project to make it more useful for people.
The scope of this project would be expanded with selection of a vendor. The Jeevan project operates through the Jeevan portal and citizen service centres work as one-stop shops and provide integrated, accessible and speedy services to the people.
There are around 100 full-functional centres located in various government offices.
Currently, DJB, BSES, MTNL, IGL and NDPL services fall under the government to citizen category. After selection of a vendor, the existing services shall continue to be kept operational by the implementing agency with better service levels.
“The implementation of Jeevan project through an implementing agency would facilitate increase in the number of Jeevan centres from 100 to 1,000 to provide one-roof service centres at various locations close to the residential areas,” said Dikshit.
The cabinet also gave its nod to conserve and refurbish Azimganj Sarai, a monument located in Delhi zoo. The work on hostel for working women in sector-22 of Rohini will also be expedited.
Monsoon session
The monsoon session of Delhi Assembly will be held from August 27 to 30. A recommendation to this effect was made to Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna by the Delhi cabinet on Monday.
Hostel for women
Dikshit said the cabinet has decided to make operational a working women’s hostel at Rohini Sector-22 soon, with a capacity for 100 people.
The hostel will have a creche for 30 children. It will be operated and maintained for three years initially by the Young Women Christian Association of Delhi.
