Come November, you can choose your favourite food items from 40 gourmet stalls in a food festival in Nehru Park in the upscale Chanakyapuri area.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) along with the Palate Fest is organising the New Delhi Palate Fest 2014 from November 28-30.

“We are co-hosting the open air food festival with the Palate Fest. The idea is for people to enjoy outside the boundaries of a restaurant. There will be around 40 food stalls. Five-star hotels will also participate in the festival,” said Jalaj Shrivastava, chairperson, NDMC.

Chains like The Oberoi, The Leela, ITC Hotel, The Park, J W Marriott will take part in the food festival.

“Restaurants from across the city will showcase their specialities. The festival is to expose Delhiites to a vibrant culture of gastronomy. They will be introduced to various cuisines and flavours.  Also, this will be a launchpad for a few online bakeries,” said Aditi Kapoor, Co-founder-Director, Palate Fest.

Apart from the five-star chains, foodies can choose from a range of restaurants like Mamagoto, Hungry Monkey, Kylin, Made in Punjab, Punjab Grill, Chokola, Tikka Town, Olive, Punjabi By Nature, Khan Chacha and The Beer Café, among others.

The fest plans to engage food enthusiasts in activities other than just trying out a variety of food items.

“We have tied up with several gourmet product suppliers. Beyond enjoying food, one can buy gourmet jams, cakes, chocolates and cheese, among other items at the food market,” said Kapoor.

Interaction with chefs

The other highlight of the festival is live interaction with chefs from across the world. Other countries are also likely to participate in the event.

So far, the French, Spanish and Mexican embassies have shown interest in the event.
“There will be cookery workshops where chefs will give live demonstrations of culinary items. Foodies will also get a chance to know more about a particular delicacy,” said Kapoor.

There will be a special kids’ zone at the venue where there will be magic shows other fun activities.
