'This is worse than AAP govt resignation after 49 days'

Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, the shunted Political Affairs Committee members of the AAP, were the first ones to emerge out of the over five-hour-long power tussle at the party’s national executive meet on Wednesday.

No “personal differences” will split the AAP, said Kumar Vishwas at a press briefing minutes after the two senior AAP leaders left the venue. He chaired the national executive meet.

On the outcome of the closed-door meeting at Calista Resort in Kapashera, Yadav declined to divulge much, saying he was not authorised to speak about the national executive’s decision.
But Bhushan, who looked visibly upset, told the press that his party’s national executive had decided that they would no longer be part of the PAC.

The AAP had called an urgent meeting of its national executive to take “action” against Yadav and Bhushan for alleged “anti-party activities”, which included conspiring to unseat Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from the party’s national convenor’s role.

Out of the 19 national executive members who attended the meeting, 11 raised their hands in favour of removing Yadav and Bhushan.

Those who wanted them removed included senior party members Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh and Pankaj Gupta, party sources said.

Ajit Jha, Christina Samy, Anand Kumar, Rakesh Sinha and Subhash Ware are believed to be in favour of retaining the two senior AAP leaders in the PAC.

“This is worse than the resignation after 49 days,” said Chanderjeet Sharma, one of the AAP volunteers outside the meeting venue, suggesting that the outcome signals a downfall of ethics.
Support from workers

Scores of Aam Aadmi Party workers stood out in support of a united party as the party leaders held the marathon meeting near the Delhi-Haryana border.

They held placards saying ‘#UnitedAAP’ and some even bore happy pictures of the duo with Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.

A ruckus broke out after the Yadav and Bhushan came out of the meeting.
“All I want to say is, na todenge na chhodenge, sudhaarenge, khud bhi sudhrenge (neither will we split nor leave, will reform, will reform ourselves as well),” Yadav told the press before attending the national executive meet.
