National BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday held centrestage for over 30 minutes at the Delhi unit office and told workers that the saffron party would hit the Aam Aadmi Party hard at the right time.

Addressing partymen ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Ramlila Maidan on January 10, Shah indicated that he did not expect the new party spoiling the chances of the BJP for forming a majority government in Delhi, said a party leader who attended the 40 minute session which started around 5.45 pm.

Shah said that the BJP was not bothered much about the AAP and the party will git a befitting electoral reply to the new party at the right time, he said.

Delhi BJP vice president Shika Rai, who also attended the meeting, said the national president gave a motivational speech stressing on the need to increase votes in all polling booths, as compared to the figures of the Lok Sabha polling.

“He stressed on door-to-door campaign and asked workers to focus more on this strategy which the BJP has always relied upon for electoral victories,” she said.

Shah said he had full faith in the strength of the party workers and the writing on the wall is very clear that people want to bring the BJP to power, she said.

He said all that BJP workers need to do is approach the voters and convert this positive and favourable political atmosphere into a thumping victory in the Assembly elections, said Rai.

While addressing the Delhi Pradesh Executive Committee, Shah also said: “All my life I have been a student of election management science and my experience says that you don’t need to be disheartened by the false propaganda of opponents, the people of Delhi are with BJP.”

A statement issued by the Delhi BJP quoted Shah as saying: “If you shed your remissness and walk into the electoral battle the victory is yours.”

Huge relief
Shah’s motivational speech to the Delhi party workers came on a day when he got a  a huge relief from a special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Mumbai on  Tuesday which discharged him from Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati alleged fake encounter killings of Gujarat that took place nearly a decade ago.

The CBI had charged Shah, the then minister of state for home in Gujarat, as an accused in the killing of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati, who was said to have been an eyewitness to the alleged encounter.
