“ Mysore being my home town, I am privileged to be the brand ambassador of Celebration Mysore Marathon which promotes the state’s prominent festival- Dasara." I am happy to flag off the event on October 2,” says actor Nidhi Subbaiah, who is also the brand ambassador for the event. The actor will be flagging off the run from its starting point -- the Jayamarthanda Gate Amba Vilas Palace.

When hunderds of Mysoreans, decide to run to add to the spirit of Dasara, the city which is already infused with celebration spirit, will add a lot of spunk to it. First of this scale, the half marathon conducted by Life is Calling, a company promoting adventure sports in the heritage city, will have the spirit of Mysore all enthused, sprightly and on its toes.

Those who are fit, with six pack abs and well toned body to be shown off, can register for 21 km run (reporting time 5.45 am, line up at 6.10 am and off at 6.30 am) while those who are yet-to-get-there can go in for 10 km (reporting time 6.15 am, line up 6.30 and off at 7 a m).

There are prizes for both these categories. And those who want to bask in ‘been there done that’ kinds feeling few years later, can register for five km stretch for which the participants are expected to report at 6.45 am, line up at 7 and off at 7.15 am.

The event will be flagged off by actor and Mysore’s home grown talent Nidhi Subbaiah, who is also a sports buff herself. The run will begin from Jaya Marthanda gate of Amba Vilas palace, also known as Mysore Palace, opposite Dasara exhibition grounds. This will also be the finishing point of the event.

To register, one can also login to celebrationrun.com or send mails to contact@lifeiscalling-sports.com. Upon arrival at the spot, the participants will be given a timing chip which will be tied to shoelace of the runner to record the time and distance.

Apart from T shirts and water, information regarding the race route will also be provided along with other essentials. The organisers have tied up with Apollo BGS Hospitals, with doctors and paramedical staff at the spot, along with an ambulance. Identified as ‘celebration points’, six important places along the run-route will have artistes and performers of various folk and fusion bands entertaining the participants and egging them on.
