Akasa Air plans its first MRO facility at Noida International Airport

Bengaluru: Akasa Air plans to set up its first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Uttar Pradesh, the low-cost airline announced on Friday.

The move, which aims to boost India’s aviation sector, follows a strategic partnership between the two entities. "The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening India’s aviation infrastructure and positioning NIA as one of the country’s leading MRO hubs," Akasa Air said in a statement.

Under the agreement, the airline will operate a state-of-the-art MRO facility within the airport premises, offering advanced services, supporting a broad spectrum of aircraft maintenance activities and ensuring high standards of operational efficiency and safety.

The MRO facility also aims to generate local employment opportunities, and foster skill development in the region. "The partnership marks a major step in shaping an integrated aviation ecosystem that supports long-term industry growth and contributes to the regional economy," the statement reiterated.

Aligned with the vision of the governments of India and UP to develop NIA, as a key MRO hub, the collaboration marks an important step toward strengthening the country's self-reliance in aviation maintenance services and advancing innovation across the sector.
