<p>The Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) on Tuesday announced the demise of its founder and former President A S Lakshmanan in the City. <br /><br /></p>.<p>A scion of a business family, Lakshmanan pursued a degree in Power Engineering, in the UK. His companies, Senapathy Whiteley and Lakshmanan Isola, were principal suppliers to leading companies like BHEL and MICO Bosch. <br /><br />The industrialist had functioned as an adviser to Union and state governments in the past, and was on the board of several companies in the private sector, as well as many boards of government entities. <br /><br />He was a spokesman of the state’s industry on matters relating to the power sector and the economy, and piloted the policy on setting up of mini and micro hydel power stations in the State. <br /></p>
