German motorcycle brand BMW Motorrad India on Wednesday launched the most awaited motorcycles - the all-new BMW G 310 R and the all-new BMW G 310 GS in India, priced at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh, respectively.

These motorcycles have been developed at Munich, Germany, and will be produced at Hosur in partnership with TVS Motor Company.

Speaking at the launch here at BMW Group Training Centre, Gurugram, Dimitris Raptis, Head of Region Asia, China, Pacific, South Africa, BMW Motorrad said these motorcycles have opened up another important chapter in BMW Motorrad's history and will lay a strong foundation for future growth.

These motorcycles mark its foray into the sub-500 cc segment in India.

BMW Motorrad has an ambitious plan to sell 2 lakh units by 2020, and it sees India as a huge growth potential.

Raptis said the motorcycles are powered by a newly developed 313 cc water-cooled single-cylinder 4-stroke engine with four valves and can accelerate from 0-50 km/hr in 2.5 seconds and achieve a too speed of 143 km/hr.

These motorcycles will be sold and serviced through the premium dealer network of BMW Motorrad. In Bengaluru, they are available at Tusker Motorrad.
