Wipro rejigs business verticals, first under CEO Pallia

Bengaluru: Tech giant Wipro Ltd, on Friday, said that it has realigned its verticals (global business lines or GBLs) to deepen alignment to clients’ evolving business needs and capitalise on emerging technology opportunities driven by artificial intelligence, cloud, and digital transformation.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Bengaluru-headquartered company said that with effect from April 1, 2025 its business will be rejigged into four GBLs, organised around client buying behaviour - technology services, business process services, consulting services, and engineering.

Out of these, business process is a completely new vertical, with Jasjit Kang as its head, while others have been formed by merging existing divisions.

“This evolution of our business lines will enable us to further sharpen our focus towards client needs with consulting-led and AI-powered solutions,” said Srini Pallia, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Of Wipro. “This realignment will allow us to serve our clients better, enabling us to deliver tailored, high-impact transformation,” he added.

In the filing, Wipro said that clients are increasingly seeking integrated, outcome-driven solutions that enhance agility and innovation.

This is its first rejig after Pallia took over as CEO in April 2024, and comes two years after a similar move under former top boss Thierry Delaporte.

Wipro has brought all cloud, data, analytics and AI, and other related businesses under the tech services GBL. Its head of cloud resigned on Friday. The consulting GBL will be headed by Amit Kumar, who was hired from Accenture Consulting last month.

Following the overhaul, Capco - Wipro's largest acquisition - will operate separately under the consulting business line with Capco's head reporting to Pallia. Its Designit business will go under the tech services business line. Both acquired companies were previously under the consulting business.

Tech services, led by Nagendra Bandaru, will deliver cloud-enabled and industry-specific technology solutions, while engineering, under Srikumar Rao will continue to provide engineering and R&D services.
