'Govt to soon fix tax refund delays'

The government is working to fix the delay in tax refunds being faced by many taxpayers which turn into grievances, a top Income Tax Department official said on Tuesday.

“If, for whatever reason, refund is due to you, which you have not got for a long time, we are trying to resolve the problem,” said Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS) Nutan Sharma.

“The functionality is now available with TDS assessing officers and very soon it will be operational. Issues regarding fate of old cases and others we have taken up with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and we are trying to resolve all those things so that there is no problem in getting the returns to you,” Sharma said.
