HCL Infosystems to set up research centre in Kerala

V.K. Bahl, corporate general manager, HCL Infosystems, Tuesday signed an agreement for leasing two acres of land with Mervin Alexander, CEO of Technopark. After signing the agreement, the team handed over the documents to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan at his residence here.

George Paul, executive vice president, HCL Infosystems, said they commended the vision of the state government to attract investment for the growth of the IT sector. "We are honoured to have got this opportunity to partner in the state growth story. This is yet another chapter in the journey of the expansion of HCL Infosystems," said Paul.

Achuthanandan said the presence of big names in the IT industry will boost the state's image and help elevate itself in the global IT map. Alexander said HCL's R&D centre would come up at Phase III campus of Technopark. The centre would provide employment to about 25,000 IT professionals.

The Technopark Phase III is being developed over 92 acres of land. Technopark has already commenced construction of a signature building with one million square feet built-up area which will be one of the largest IT buildings in the country.
