Ind. will be 5G-ready by 2020, says Mukesh

India will be fully covered by 4G network by 2020 and should be ready for 5G by that time said Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday.

Addressing India Mobile Congress- 2018, Ambani said India witnessed the fastest transition in the mobile sector from 2G/3G to 4G than anywhere else in the world. The country also moved from the 155th rank in mobile data consumption in the world, he said. He also said the 4G network is spreading fastest in the country and soon all devices will be ready to have 4G on their phones.

Ambani said Reliance Jio is committed to building a deep-fibre network across the country and will ensure every premises is connected with the high-quality network.

India will grow from 135th rank to amongst the top three countries in fixed broadband, he said.
