<p>Software major Infosys Ltd. Wednesday announced it has secured a contract to manage IT operations of Sweden's leading retailer ICA Gruppen.<br /><br />"The deal is estimated to reduce costs for Gruppen in stages by Swedish Kroner 75 million ($9 million/Rs.56 crore) from 2016," the city-based company said in a statement.<br /><br />As part of the deal, the company will provide services across application and infrastructure maintenance to drive operational efficiency and ensure IT projects add value to the retailer's business.<br /><br />The deal also expands the partnership, with Gruppen doubling the percentage of IT operation and covering IT services, including IT infrastructure and IT support for its business unit - ICA Sweden.<br /><br />"Our role as a services and transformation partner will see us revitalise the IT operations at Gruppen and bring new ideas to help it innovate," Infosys vice president Karmesh Vaswani said.<br /><br />The IT outsourcing major will leverage its experience with world's leading retailers, banks and pharmacies to accelerate business value of Gruppen's diverse businesses.</p>.<p><br />"Our focus will be to help Gruppen renew its core operations and implement new capabilities in a cost-efficient manner," Vaswani added.<br /><br />Gruppen chief finance officer Sven Lindskog said that with a skilled IT partner like Infosys, the retailer would create greater flexibility to meet its new business requirements and cope with rapid changes.</p>
