<p>Syndicate Bank on Saturday announced the appointment of Melwyn Rego as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. <br /><br />Rego began his career in the banking industry by joining IDBI Bank Ltd in 1984. Prior to joining Syndicate Bank, Rego was MD and CEO of Bank of India. <br /><br />He has also held the position of Deputy Managing Director, IDBI Bank Ltd.<br /><br />Rego was deputed to IDBI Homefinance Ltd as Managing Director and CEO in September 2003 after IDBI took over Tata Homefinance Ltd. <br /><br />Rego returned to IDBI in January 2008 and took over as Head- International Banking Division to spearhead IDBI Bank’s overseas initiatives. <br /></p>
