RBI guv to hold second meet with PSU bank heads today

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das is expected to meet the second batch of public sector bank heads, who hail from outside Mumbai.

This is the second such meeting of the Governor in a span of one week. The meeting is expected to take stock of the overall economy and whether the liquidity crunch in the system is so severe that lending restrictions need to be lifted.

The meeting will be held at the RBI headquarters in Mumbai.

Sources privy to the development said the liquidity and PCA framework of the banks will be discussed. However, the capital reserve issue will not be taken up as it has been referred to a committee.

The news of today’s meeting brought cheers across the markets with rupee getting more strengthened and bond market a tad healthier.
