<p> German aerospace materials and logistics provider ThyssenKrupp Aerospace, part of ThyssenKrupp, has announced plans to make India an important hub for its aerospace materials services business. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The company, which has been in India for the last 160 years, is bullish on the aerospace market here, and sees growth from both commercial aviation, as well as defence.<br /><br />ThyssenKrupp Aerospace President Jurgen Funke told Deccan Herald, “In the overall industry perspective, besides defence, commercial aviation is set to boom in the coming years. <br /><br />Demand has begun to sprout from all parts of the world, which was earlier dominated by only traditional (developed) markets. India is also expecting a growth in the commercial segment.”<br /><br />The annual global build rate for commercial aircraft by all manufacturers put together is over 1,000 units. “With the sector set to see a bright future, we believe that even in India, production must be supported and value-added. Hence, we aim to contribute to the business here in components and parts production, and first-stage processing of aerospace materials, among others,” Funke said.<br /><br />Meanwhile, ThyssenKrupp Aerospace has opened its first facility in Bengaluru in a bid to meet the rising demand of the local aerospace industry. “Spread across 3,300 square metres, the facility will employ 30 technicians and engineers, and stock aerospace materials such as aluminium, titanium and steel in bars, plates, sheets, rounds and more,” ThyssenKrupp Aerospace India Managing Director Gopi Hanumanthappa said.<br /><br />As a global services provider in the area of materials, processing and supply chain management ThyssenKrupp Aerospace supplies cut-to-size and machine-ready material for aerospace-related manufacturing. “India is an attractive off-shoring market for components. <br /><br />The facility is India’s first, and our 41st materials facility in the world. If the market grows well in Bengaluru, we expect growth here too,” ThyssenKrupp AG COO (Materials Services), Business Area Materials Services Hans-Josef Hoss said.<br /><br /></p>
