Uber partners with Adani Group to set up data centre in India

Bengaluru: Uber has partnered with Adani Group to establish its first data centre in India. The CEO of ride-hailing firm Dara Khosrowshahi met Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad on Wednesday to build on its existing partnership with the group.

"As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data centre in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our tech. Ready later this year, this investment will help us build at scale - from India, for the world," the CEO said in a post on X.

Gautam Adani said, "What a run Uber is having! Magnificent performance globally! Our partnerships continue to grow."

This announcement comes during Uber's CEO's visit to the country. In February this year, the Adani Group announced the largest integrated energy-compute commitments, a direct investment of $100 billion to develop renewable-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035.

The company said that the investment is expected to catalyse by 2035 an additional $150 billion across server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms and supporting industries. Together, this is projected to create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the decade.

In October 2025, Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture company AdaniConneX, and Google announced a partnership to develop the country's largest AI data centre campus and new green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Google’s AI hub in Visakhapatnam is a multi-faceted investment of approximately $15 billion over five years (2026-2030), comprising gigawatt-scale data centre operations, supported by a robust subsea cable network and clean energy, to drive the most demanding AI workloads in India. It will be brought to life in close collaboration with ecosystem partners including AdaniConneX and Airtel, the company had said in a statement.
