A centenary music festival 'Pallavi San geethotsava' has been organised in the city in memory of legendary Carnatic musician ‘Pallavi’ S Chandrappa.

The three-day festival starting from August 5, is organised by Pallavi Gana Sabha and  Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to mark the birth centenary of the late musician.

The Gana Sabha was formed in 1990 in memory of Chandrappa, who dedicated his life to research in ‘Pallavi’, a  thematic line of a song.

Born in a family of musicians in 1916, Chandrappa was an exponent of Pallavi and Taalavadhana Pallavi music art form. The music festival, whose objective is to provide a platform for  upcoming artistes, will include a book release, where a biography of Chandrappa will be launched. The festival will be held on August 5, 6  and 7 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan from 9 am to 9 pm.
