The city police on Tuesday detained three people who danced brandishing lethal weapons during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Kurubarahalli, Basaveshwaranagar.

The three suspects has been identified as Sunil, Bharath, and Jimmy, residents of Mahalakshmi Layout and Kurubarahalli, the police said.

The police said the trio were wielding daggers and a machete and dancing for drum beats on November 18 at a function in Kurubarahalli. Their acts with the weapons intimidated the public and one of them shot a video and circulated it on social media. The video, in which the suspects were hailing local rowdy elements and dancing with the weapons, went viral.

The Basaveshwaranagar police stumbled on the clip and detained the three men after identifying them from the video. Following a detailed questioning, a case under appropriate sections of the Arms Act was registered by the police.
