6 thieves arrested, booty worth Rs 42L recovered

The city police have arrested six men and have recovered gold and silver valuables and 15 bikes, worth around Rs 42 lakh, and detected around 25 cases registered at various police stations across the city.

The Begur police arrested a gang of four robbers identified as Boregowda (32), a resident of Mailasandra; Sukumar S (21), a resident of Bommanahalli; Prathap (28), a resident of Garvebhavipalya; and Jagadish (23), a resident of Begur. They said with these arrests, the police have detected 10 cases across the city and recovered gold and silver valuables worth Rs 17 lakh.

In another case, the Begur police arrested two bike thieves identified as Keerthi K S (20) from Mandya; and Syed Imran (24), a resident of Singasandra. The police said the two accused had stole 15 bikes worth Rs 25 lakh.

A probe revealed that the two accused had stolen 11 Royal Enfield bikes, two KTM Duke bikes, one Bajaj Pulsar and one Honda Dio. The police have recovered all the bikes and have solved 15 cases in the city.

"With the increasing number of thefts in our jurisdiction, we formed a special team and based on credible information, our men arrested the six accused and solved almost 25 cases," said a senior police officer.
