88,81,066 registered voters in Bengaluru

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said that there 88,81,066 voters in Bengaluru city.

The commissioner, who is also the district election officer (DEO), told reporters that, out of the total voters in the city, 46,32,900 are male voters and 42,48,166 are female voters in the BBMP limits.

Three Lok Sabha constituencies - Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central and Bengaluru South comes under DEO. N Manjunath Prasad said, “The polling for three constituencies will be held on April 18. The residents can enrol in the voter's list till March 16.”

“Citizens can call toll free number 1959 for any issues relating to the election. A district-level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) is set up for all paid news certification for print and visual media. Expenditure by political parties and candidates will be monitored,” he added.

The city police department will monitor the law and order situation in the city. T Suneel Kumar, Bengaluru City Police commissioner, said: “We have taken action against 400 rowdy sheeters so far. Licensed weapons should be deposited in the police stations soon. We had registered 300 cases in the last election and 299 cases been disposed of by the department.”

A single-window permission system has been created to give election-related permission/clearance within 24 hours. Candidates and political parties can apply for permissions for meetings, rallies, vehicles, temporary election office and loudspeakers at a single location, where back-end convergence of various authorities/departments has been done.
