Actor-turned-politician Jaggesh campaigned in the Yeshwantpur seat on Sunday by visiting apartments, taking selfies and urging voters to back him in the Assembly polls.

He began the weekend campaign with a light breakfast and went about meeting joggers and senior citizens strolling around Gandhi Park in Herohalli. Gathering fewer party cadres and election workers, Jaggesh had a strategic meeting at Sunkadakatte.

"I'm unwell due to the hectic campaigning schedule. Still, I want to reach out to people and seek their blessings," he said.

By 10.30 am, Jaggesh's campaign shifted to the apartments in Kengeri. "This being a weekend, we're hoping that the residents are at home so that we can seek votes," said a party worker.

But things did not go exactly as planned for Jaggesh and his party workers since fewer residents turned up to meet the BJP candidate.

Besides Kengeri, he also campaigned in apartments at Hemmigepura, Kodipalya, Uttarahalli, besides buildings close to Turahalli. Most of these places had a mere 20 or 30 residents to greet him at the meetings held in the community halls.

Listening to complaints listed out by the apartment welfare association presidents, Jaggesh requested their vote. "I'll do my best to solve the civic issues faced by the apartment residents, if I win. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported development in a big way. He has inspired me to serve the people and the society," Jaggesh said.

The BJP handed Jaggesh the ticket to contest from Yeshwantpur in its fourth list on April 22, snuffing out rumours that former minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje could possibly throw her hat in the ring.

Selfie Time:

Jaggesh visited at least 10 apartments in the constituency till afternoon 2 pm, though the residents turned up was very few, but they were also seen asking for a selfie with Jaggesh who was known for the comedy roles for many decades in the Kannada film industry.

Stuck in the lift:

Jaggesh who went to an apartment in Kodipalya stuck in the lift for almost 20 minutes due to the overload inside the lift. The lift had a capacity of carrying only five people, but his supporters about seven people entered with him inside the lift force to stuck in between. The apartment technical person intervened and solved the problem.
