The daylight armed robbery that rocked northern Bengaluru’s Yelahanka last month has been cracked with the arrest of the remaining four suspects.

On August 27, around 3.45 pm, the six-member gang had barged into the house of Pranay Sahani in Vikas Layout, Yelahanka, when he was away at his generator shop in Kogilu. The suspects overpowered his parents and their domestic help, gagged their mouths with plasters and locked them in a room before ransacking the house. But before they could finish the job, Sahani came back home and was stunned to see the robbers. He put up resistance but was stabbed in the chest. Everything happened too fast. As the gang tried to escape, neighbours rushed to Sahani’s help and chased down the kingpin, Pawan Kalyan, and handed him over to the Yelahanka police.

Two days later, police arrested another suspect, Uday Shankar, by firing on him during a chase. But other members of the gang escaped. On Saturday, police tracked down the remaining four suspects — Ranjit M (28), M Rohit (25), M Vinay Kumar (19) and S Sumanth (19).

Police also managed to recover Rs 1.5 lakh worth of gold jewellery, two mobile phones, three wristwatches and five knives used in the robbery. They are trying to recover the remaining 25 grams of gold the gang had snatched from the house and pawned with a loan firm in the city.
