Artists' mite for flood relief

Prices of art works range from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh

Samyojitha, a trust floated by a group of contemporary artists has taken initiative to bring the art works under one roof to sell and contribute the money to the government for relief works. The trust is one of the oldest modern art organisation in Karnataka.

Samyojitha Convener N Marishamachar said the prices of art works being exhibited ranges from  Rs 2,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh (one of the works of S G Vasudev). “We do not how many works will be sold and how much money is going to be raised. But we are sure of getting good response. The entire proceed will go for relief works”, he said.

Anil Kumar, art teacher, Chitrakala Parishat said that the on going exhibition-cum-sale is unique as best of the best artists of the State have come together for a cause. Paintings of two or three generation of artists are being displayed.

Yusuf Arakkal, Chandranath Acharya, M B Patil, B Jayaram, K B Surekha, Gurudas Shenoy, Rani Rekha, S Krishnappa, J M S Mani, R Suri, P S Kumar are among the artists who have put up their works for sale.
