BBMP polls: BSY cuts short his Kerala tour

Last Updated 13 January 2010, 18:46 IST

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and some of his Cabinet colleagues have lined up a good number of programmes even on Sankranti, which is falling on Thursday.

The model code of conduct for the BBMP polls comes into effect on January 15. Once the code is in place, the government cannot launch or announce new programmes till the elections are over.

The scenic Vembanand lake, the largest freshwater lake in South Asia at Kumarakom in Kerala, could not hold back the chief minister. He left for Kumarakom on Tuesday only to return on Wednesday evening. He was accompanied by some of his close aids to Kumarakom. He had gone there to relax for a few days.

Sources said that the CM wanted to spend time with his family members on Sankranti. But his itinerary for Thursday shows that he has hectic official engagements. He will receive the Bangalore 2020 plan prepared by ABIDe at 10.30 am, followed by release of a cassette and then inaugurate the Sumanahalli flyover.

His Cabinet colleague Suresh Kumar is scheduled to visit 25 temples and lay foundation stone for various developmental works in Rajajinagar on Thursday.
