Last Updated 09 August 2010, 19:48 IST

The survey will be done by the BBMP staff and every property in the City will be mapped.
According to Palike officials, as many as 1,100 officials including revenue inspectors, health officials and engineering section officials are to be pooled in for the drive.

The financial year 2010-11 has already seen the BBMP collect a bounty of Rs 727 crore through property tax collection.

This includes tax collected for the year 2009-10. With 14 lakh properties estimated to be in the City, the BBMP has claimed tax has already been paid for 50 per cent of these properties for the year 2010-11.

Currently, the Palike estimates that around 8.33 lakh property owners have paid their tax.
According to officials, the drive will ensure that all properties are mapped according to their category –– commercial and residential. “It does not matter whether the property owner has paid the tax or not, each and every property will be surveyed,” informed a BBMP official. A circular to this effect has been issued and placed on their website.
